AOL customers were having trouble finding answers to their questions online and the customer call center was flooded with expensive phone traffic. My job was to develop a flexible and friendly design system that would help AOL users find answers to their questions on help.aol.com.

ARTICLE TEMPLATES

If we did our job right on the other pages, the user has found the content she needs to solve her problem. If the user does find herself in the wrong article, we didn't want an article page to feel like a dead end. Similar articles and other related products are available to help her continue navigating.

VISUAL DESIGN

Illustration and bold color is used at higher levels of the site to direct attention to important content. I worked with a creative director and illustrator to define the playful illustration style and vibrant color palette. At the article level the content is prioritized and illustrations take a back seat.
